Dr Paige assesses a young schizophrenic man and advises his mother that he needs professional help. She persuades Dr Paige that she can cope with her son, but the next day she is found dead.

DS Diamond's investigation into Stanley Courtney 's confession to murder is interrupted by Dr Paige, who believes Courtney is mentally unstable and unfit for police questioning.
