A visiting M.D. with a past takes a special interest in Syd; a fastidious baker hires on with Joanie; and the eating problems of a dog and a pig perplex Jim.

In parallel love stories, Syd falls for an all-American guy with a "contagious spirit"---and a dire heart condition; and Robbie pursues the engaging Tina.
