While Lovejoy goes away with Charlotte to value an antique clock, Charlie Gimbert tries to evict him. And an antique fish reveals a romantic secret.

Things are not going well for Lovejoy. A dud cheque lands him in trouble, then Charlotte is attacked and robbed of a newly-acquired 18th-century portrait which police later recover at Lovejoy Antiques. Egged on by her new man, she has the luckless Lovejoy charged with aggravated burglary.

Charlotte is invited to a wealthy client's house for lunch, but she finds herself at the mercy of a killer. Meanwhile, Lovejoy is sent on a wild treasure hunt through East Anglia.
