Jefferson Keyes is assigned to regain by some means a  painting a wealthy Englishman sold to a Greek friend.

The going gets rough when private investigator Jefferson Keyes, who gets a million-dollar fee for each case, locates a kidnapped millionaire recluse named Baynard Barnes. Matters are complicated by Michelle DuBois, a scheming would-be actress.

When a check for $1,000,000 bounces, Jefferson Keyes sneaks back to a small African country to find a way to make up for the loss.
