In this premiere episode, Keyes is convinced that homicide charges against industrialist Fitzsimmons are false and he finds a witness in Canada, artist Annette Borne, who might hold the key to his client's fate. Keyes follows leads that take him from Toronto to Quebec as he attempts to find out why a man was murdered and who might be framing his client.

Jefferson Keyes is assigned to regain by some means a  painting a wealthy Englishman sold to a Greek friend.

The going gets rough when private investigator Jefferson Keyes, who gets a million-dollar fee for each case, locates a kidnapped millionaire recluse named Baynard Barnes. Matters are complicated by Michelle DuBois, a scheming would-be actress.
