When a girlfriend of Pete's dies under mysterious circumstances, he and Mac investigate a plastic surgeon (June Allyson) and her wealthy patient (Jayne Meadows).

A half million dollars in jewelry is hijacked from Mac while he is escorting it to the opening of a fashion show. He and Pete find that there is more than simple robbery involved as a motive for the crime.

Pete and Mac act as executors and impartial referees when a wealthy racketeer leaves his entire fortune to be divided by the three women in his life.
