One of Bumper's informers helps in the case of a burglary ring headed by a pawn shop operator.

Bumper's erstwhile girlfriend is a victim of a pair of armed robbers.

Trying to avoid inevitable violence, Bumper (George Kennedy) searches for a bookie's collection man who fled with a week's worth of receipts. Bumper's beat is plaguedby crooks wielding unusual weapons: an ice-pick-armed thief and a couple of aimless ex-cons equipped with a 20-millimeter antitank gun.
