Sir Terry Wogan and Mason McQueen have arrived in York, the ancient capital of the north where they sample the famous York ham and the confusingly named savoury duck. Mason tries his hand at making chocolate using ancient Aztec methods before they head to Ampleforth for a drop of the strong stuff with the father abbot. It all ends in a riotous Viking feast, hosted by Eric the Red.

They visit Canterbury Cathedral and find out how it helped feed hundreds during the Second World War. They call in at a train shed which is now home to a flourishing food market, before popping across to Whistable to sample their lesser-known shellfish delicacy of whelks. And after Mason has a go at leather on willow, everything stops for tea at Kent's County Cricket ground.
