Tension, fear, brutality and love: these qualities all come together with explosive and fascinating force in the first of the new series of Halifax f.p., A Person of Interest. When Jane Halifax is asked to profile laconic ex-cop, Laurie Downes, who has been charged with murder, she finds her professionalism tested to the utmost with the lives of innocent people depending on her judgement and skills.

Following the death of her best friend, Lisa, Jane must help care for her family and close down her practice. This is where Jane first meets Alison Blunt, a gifted violinist with a dangerously disturbed personality. When Jane and her friends' family are threatened she must think her way into Alison's mind, leaving a bitter aftertaste.

When upmarket gossip columnist, Simon Laser, receives an anonymous letter threatening the lives of his friends, he is not too concerned. However, when a man claiming to be his secret lover is found brutally murdered, forensic psychiatrist Jane Halifax begins her own investigation. Analysing Simon's behaviour, Jane realises he may be capable of murder. The potentially lethal question remains how...Jane realises that a lot rests upon her conclusions, including her own safety.
